What I actually do

On a given week: a scope call with a business owner, a shoot day somewhere in Washington or Benton county, two or three days at the edit and the code, and the ordinary work of keeping other clients’ sites running. I answer the phone. I write the proposals. I carry the lights.

That is the whole pitch, and it has a real limit worth stating: I take on a small number of clients at a time, because the alternative is subcontracting the work to someone you did not hire. When a month is full, I will tell you it is full and give you a date.

Why the work stays in-house

Photography, video, and web are treated as three separate purchases by most agencies, which is why they so often do not fit together. The site gets built, then somebody realizes there are no photographs of the building, so stock goes in. The video gets made by a crew who have never read the site copy.

Running all four lines myself means the shot list is written knowing where the images will sit on the page, and the page is designed knowing what was shot. It is not a philosophy — it is just the practical result of one person doing all of it.
