Web design and development

Business sites, online stores, and rebuilds — written as code, not assembled from a template.

What this is

I design and build websites for businesses across Northwest Arkansas: first sites, online stores, and replacements for sites that have stopped working. The build is done in code rather than assembled in a page builder, which means the finished site loads faster, is cheaper to change later, and is not tied to a monthly platform fee that rises every year.

Most of the work falls into three shapes. A first site for a business that has been running on a Facebook page. A rebuild for a business whose site was made five or more years ago and now loads slowly, breaks on phones, or cannot be edited by anyone still working there. Or an online store, either new or moved off a platform that no longer fits.

Technical SEO is part of the build, not an upsell after it. That means the page structure, headings, metadata, image sizing, sitemap, and local business schema are correct when the site ships. It does not mean a guarantee of ranking, which nobody can honestly offer.

How that works in practice, in full: why technical SEO is part of every website I build.

Where the work happens

Recent sites include an online store for Candy Khota'd, a family treats business that sells at the Rogers Farmers Market and delivers across Benton and Washington counties; a site for Heritage Valley Baking Co., a cottage bakery at the Goshen Farmers Market; a magazine-style site for Dead Swanky Salon on the Fayetteville square; and a new online store for Joyhouse Coffee, whose cafe is in Cave Springs. I'm based in Springdale, and the scope call can happen in person anywhere from Fayetteville to Bentonville.

How the job runs

Start to finish, so you know what happens next at every point and what is expected from you.

  1. 01

    Scope call

Thirty to forty-five minutes, in person or on a call. What the site needs to do, who it is for, what exists already, and what has to move across. You get a written scope and a fixed price before anything is built.

  2. 02

    Structure

Pages, navigation, and what each page has to say — agreed in writing before design starts. This is the step most often skipped, and skipping it is what produces sites that need rebuilding two years later.

  3. 03

    Design and build

Design is done in the browser at real sizes rather than as flat pictures, so what you approve is what ships. You review on a live staging link and comment directly on it.

  4. 04

    Content and photography

If the site needs photographs or video, I shoot them. That is the reason to hire one company for both — the site is designed around real images of your business rather than around stock, then patched later.

  5. 05

    Launch

DNS, HTTPS, redirects from old URLs so existing search traffic is not lost, analytics, and search console. I handle the move; you approve the go-live date.

  6. 06

    Handover

A short screen recording showing how to make the changes you are most likely to need, plus written notes. You own the site, the code, and the domain.

What you end up with

Exact quantities and revision counts are written as numbers into your scope before work begins, rather than left to interpretation afterwards.

The site
Deployed, on your domain, with HTTPS enforced and both www and non-www resolving to one address.
Ownership
The code and hosting account are yours. No license, no lock-in, and no fee to leave.
Search setup
Sitemap, robots file, canonical tags, per-page titles and descriptions, and local business structured data.
Analytics
Privacy-respecting analytics configured, plus Google Search Console verified and submitted.
Revisions
A defined number of review rounds, written into the scope as a number before work starts.
Handover
Screen recording and written notes covering the edits you will actually make.

What it costs

Web design and development starts at$1,250for a basic website
  • Basic Website

$1,250one time, up to 6 pages

A first site, or replacing one that's out of date.

    • Custom design, built to load fast
    • Your photos, not stock
    • Contact or booking form and Google Business link
    • Search basics set up
  • Online Store

    from $1,999one time

Makers and shops ready to sell online.

    • Products, cart and payments
    • Shipping, tax and order emails
    • Product photos available as an add-on
  • Care Plan

    $79per month

Keeping your site fast, secure and up to date.

    • Hosting, updates and backups
    • Small edits made for you whenever you need them
    • Fixes if something breaks

These are starting prices. Every build still gets a written scope and a fixed number before work starts, and the number does not move unless you ask for something outside the scope. If you do, you get the revised figure in writing first.

How the money works

A fixed price, agreed first
You approve a written scope and a number before the work starts. It does not move unless you ask for something outside that scope, and then you get the revised figure in writing before it is done.
Staged payment
You are never carrying the whole cost at once, and the balance is not due until the work is delivered.
A point where you can walk
If the first design is not right, you can stop there and owe only the deposit. No invoice for work in progress and no argument about it.
You own what you paid for
Full-resolution files, unlimited use in your own marketing, and for a website the code and the hosting account in your name. Nothing to renew with me and no fee to leave. Third-party costs — hosting, domain, a music license — are yours, and they are named in the scope before you agree to it.

Common questions

How much does a website cost?
A basic website of up to six pages starts at $1,250, an online store starts at $1,999, and a care plan for hosting, updates and small edits is $79 a month. Every build is still quoted as a fixed price against a written scope, and the number only changes if you ask for something outside it.
Is SEO included in the website?
Technical SEO is part of every build: page structure, headings, metadata, image sizing, sitemap and local business structured data are correct when the site ships, and Google Search Console is verified and submitted. Nobody can honestly guarantee a ranking, so I don't.
Who owns the website when it's finished?
You do. The code, the hosting account and the domain are yours, with no license, no lock-in and no fee to leave.
Can you rebuild my site without losing search traffic?
Yes. The launch covers DNS, HTTPS and redirects from your old URLs so existing search traffic is not lost. I handle the move, and you approve the go-live date.
What if I don't like the first design?
You can stop there and owe only the deposit. No invoice for work in progress and no argument about it.
Can you take the photos and video for the site too?
Yes. If the site needs photographs or video, I shoot them, so the site is designed around real images of your business rather than stock.
Are you a web designer or a web developer?
Both. The design is done in the browser at real sizes and the same person writes the code, so what you approve on the staging link is what ships.
Do you build websites for businesses outside Springdale?
Yes, for businesses across Northwest Arkansas: Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville, Lowell, Johnson, Tontitown, Cave Springs, Farmington and Elkins. The scope call can be in person or on a call.
