The job

CrossFit Commence is a gym on North College Avenue in Fayetteville, with CrossFit, HYROX, yoga and adaptive training classes under the line “Forge a Stronger You.” The promo had to put a viewer inside a class — the coach's call, the barbells, rowers and ski ergs, and everyone on the floor at the end.

I filmed a Saturday class and a Sunday session on the Canon C50 and cut the workout fast, one movement swinging into the next. It closes on an animated end card built around the gym's logo, with its four programs and the address.

What the film shows, in order: a man looking out of the gym's open roll-up door, the floor before class, chipped kettlebells and racks of plates; the coach calling the class in with cupped hands; barbells, pull-ups, rowers, a ski erg and wall balls, cut together with the coach on a megaphone, sandbag lunges and an athlete training from a wheelchair; athletes catching their breath on the floor and a fist bump from the coach; and an end card with the CrossFit Commence logo, “Forge a Stronger You”, CrossFit · HYROX · Yoga · Adaptive Training and the address. Music, no voice-over.
